Codiac Transit, in partnership with the City of Moncton, is pleased to offer free wireless Internet on all its regular bus routes.
As part of a pilot project, four buses on the Express Route were equipped with onboard broadband Internet and the buses were marked with lime green WiFi signage. Since the initial pilot launch in August 2007, the City of Moncton has added wireless Internet to its entire buses fleet.
This innovative service, a first in Canada, is offered free of charge and is available to anyone who has WiFi enabled technology such as smart phones, Blackberries, iPods, laptops, etc. Launched in March 2009, the new technology advances as part of this initiative is GoBus. GoBus is designed to show interactively and in real time where your bus is at any given time. No longer will you have to wait at your bus stop and wonder where your bus is. This allows you to plan your trip more effectively.
The City of Moncton and Codiac Transit will be looking at other innovative technologies in the coming months.
