Public Transit Governance Committee

The Mayors of Moncton, Riverview and Dieppe appoint member(s) of their respective Councils to this committee. In addition to these voting Members, each municipality will be assisted by a senior manager who will not have voting authority.

Mandate

The Committee shall have a mandate to provide oversight on such items as:

Preparing a metropolitan transit vision, service standards and overall goals and objectives;
Preparing a metropolitan transit route structure;
Recommending a five-year capital budget for all participating municipalities;
Recommending an annual operating budget for all participating municipalities;
Establishing a system-wide fare structure and promoting an equitable share of costs between users and taxpayers;
Establishing a single marketing strategy;
Developing an equitable formula for cost sharing of Codiac Transpo’s services between municipalities; and
Operating the entire fleet as a single entity.

Meetings

A regular meeting schedule is established through consensus of Members.  Public meetings are open to the public and agendas are posted.  Due to the fact that most Committee meetings take place in a more informal setting where space can be limited, citizens or media who wish to attend a meeting must register in advance by e-mail (info@codiactranspo.ca) or by calling 506-857-2008.
