Codiac Transpo test-driving smaller bus

MONCTON – Until July 4, Codiac Transpo will be test-driving a 24-seat (30 foot) accessible low floor bus on various routes within the tri-community. In exchange for filling out a comment card (available on board), customers will travel for free on this vehicle.

"In addition to collecting and reviewing passenger feedback, staff will be analyzing other performance data, such as fuel efficiency, service issues, and overall operation," said Angela Allain, Codiac Transpo's General Manager. "This particular bus is a relatively new product on the market, manufactured by Canadian company Grande West Transportation. The dealer has provided an opportunity to test drive it with no obligation to buy. The information gathered will assist our research into the use and costs of smaller buses."

This exercise is not linked to the $2.7 million in funding, announced on May 21 by MP Robert Goguen, along with MLA Monique LeBlanc and Moncton Mayor George LeBlanc. That fleet replacement project, under the New Building Canada Plan, will serve to purchase eleven 40-foot buses between 2015-2019.
